Doppelganger's doppleganger

It didn’t surprise me that other substackers are critiquing Naomi Klein’s book, Doppelganger. I’m used to being ahead of the curve. This time, at least in the subset of substackers, that lead time was warpsped. Toby Rogers’ psychological takedown of Klein actually preceded my first post, , although I didn’t discover his until Mark Crispin Miller recently alerted me.

In my defense, had to wait for the library editions making their way through 42 holds in my Cerulean County to read it, after hearing Naomi K. interviewed on NPR. To remind readers, this series is a psycho-cultural analysis of Klein as case study of progressives who flipped out and spun south over covid whiplash science. So not objective.

Had been considering identifying as a Transitional Autistic of Indeterminate Gender to gain insight into their psyches. Instead will claim Toby’s my doppelganger. He even wrote a book about vaccines, (his doctoral dissertation The Political Economy of Autism) although Mandatory Vaccinations = Totalitarian Inoculations came out first. Hopefully we won’t kill each other over sharing limited resources, like traditional Doppelgangers.

He’s working on the same puzzle pieced together in this series on Doppelganger . “Unwittingly, the book explains how Ms. Klein lost her way, even before the pandemic. The book is a disaster that will leave a permanent stain on Ms. Klein’s legacy. The only silver lining is that it gives us a very detailed look inside the mind of a Covidian.”

Rogers shreds Naomi Klein’s attempted takedown of Naomi Wolf, comparing her poorly researched arguments to childish taunts. He credits Klein for being the go to expert on Disaster Capitalism, yet failing to understand this Globally Imposed Catastrophe was planned and executed to feed Vulture Capitalism.

Toby blames this on the overwhelming parental stress of having a “neurodiverse” child, which he intimately understands. Not every progressive has this excuse for their inexhaustible faith in whiplash science, and eagerness to abandon bedrock liberal principles in the space of a sneeze. Most weren’t even parents. So not representative, although rising rates of autism are replacement theory in action.

Klein’s father was a respected pediatrician at McGill University in Toronto, who certainly administered megabatches of vaccines. Klein skates over that, because at least he wasn’t taking part in Project MKUltra there. She devotes a chapter to the CIA funded psychiatric effort to brainwash patients, using tortuous psychopharmaceutical and electronic “treatments.” Nevertheless, not in any Venn Diagram meme of significant overlap.

This theme does reveal a core split in progressive psyches. Righteous revulsion towards Big Pharma and Murderous Quacks, sharing space with Absolute Faith in a Faulce Idol, public face of Big Pharma and MQs for forty years. Understand that and we’re halfway to cracking the code for why they became possessed by a mass cultural daemon. RopaDopamine may be involved.

Rogers defends Dr. Wolf, who “followed the money and broke hundreds of major stories by leading a team of researchers that are analyzing the half a million pages of Pfizer clinical trial documents that the FDA initially hoped to keep secret for 75 years. The progressive left lost its mind and went fascist during Covid and banned any truth tellers including Dr. Wolf from the mainstream and social media.”

This series uses Klein as key to understanding why. Toby’s succinct history of European refugees’ psychological hijacking of American progressive politics after WWII, deserves a series of its own. “Psychology [and Psychiatry] was the tool by which progressives would build the new man, new woman, and better world.” Rogers places Naomi K. as devotee to this cult. Divine Priestess or Dancing Houri, she’s a victim as much as any liberally educated progressive.

“Ms. Klein divides the book into four sections that she labels ‘Performance’, ‘Projection’, ‘Partition’, and ‘Integration’ — this is definitely a journey through the preferred left schools of psychology. The ultimate goal of this exercise would be to reintegrate the shadow side of her self that she is projecting onto Dr. Wolf.”

I admitted I hadn’t read Klein’s oevre before Doppelganger, only some reviews of Disaster Capitalism in Progressive Magazines, so can’t use one book as diagnostic. I give credit to Klein for speaking truth to power over Israel’s raisond’etre. Calling Zionism a False Idol, a new Golden Calf, was Mosaic in intent. The tealeaves are swirling on whether her burning bush will be torched.

She devotes a few chapters to explaining her evolution from happy Hebrew camper making donations to planting Trees in Israel to recognizing that Jewish victimization by Nazis didn’t justify colonial occupation. Other Jews suffering did not earn them the moral right to ethnic cleansing, massacres and stealing land from indigenous natives. Favorable biblical promises from their G-D do not give legal or even historical rights to a land their “ancestors” fled a few millennia ago.

Klein stood for liberal values of free speech over this student protest. Sad she wasn’t on board with the Toronto Truckers, and students (or their parents) couldn’t organize enough dissent to stall the school lockdown lunacy and vaxxinicide then. We warned them, but were as verboten as Hamas sympathizers. Now, none can remember what they did in the war.

Strategically, anti-vaxxers need to tie themselves to the mast between Zionism and Armageddon, favoring neither siren song unless it furthers our odyssey to the mythical middle. Or be confined to Circe’s Concentration Camp.
