A personal message to your local elected officials has far more impact than letters or calls to state or federal officials. You may not get a response from either, but your ripple is bigger in a small pond. It’s discouraging to yell from a deep well with no answer, but there’s at least an echo locally. Psychic, or psychotic. The chink in the armor is costs vs benefits. We can ask for clarification of this from our county supervisors of public health agencies. My query follows.
You have invested a small fortune in a “Public Health” agency that spent millions to issue “guidelines”, policies and pronouncements focused solely on infectious disease for two years. If you rename this agency the Infectious Disease Department it will prevent confusion with real public health. Their diktats, which they claimed were needed for public health and safety, extensively damaged the social, educational, physical and economic health of Marin citizens of all ages and class.
Real health experts know that social isolation, loss of control, financial stressors, academic and employment disruption, combined with confusing and contradictory information from authority figures, creates immediate and long term medical and psychological harms.
This agency has issued many PR notices over decades about improving health in various ways, reducing obesity, drug and alcohol abuse, air pollution, suicide, traffic collisions and gun violence to exercising more and creating safe places to play. Lately there’s buzz about Social Determinants of Health.
It never exercised its unelected authority to mandate healthy habits or limit exposures to toxic hazards in that time. What coercive actions has it undertaken to improve real public health? This name change is more than a semantic choice. It is symbolic because people trust in “health care experts”placing blind faith in their edicts, even when they change from season to surge.
There is overwhelming evidence that their pandemic actions extensively damaged the public health of all ages and class. There is growing evidence that they did not reduce the real dangers from covid 19 and its emerging variants in Marin. They ignored known and emerging methods of improving immune system health to prevent serious illness and death from this virus and many other diseases. In fact, their guidelines damaged healthy immune response to germs and toxins, while increasing stress levels.
Of course they will tell you how much worse it could have been without their interventions, but comparative analysis has found little or no difference in rates of infection, hospitalization and deaths between counties, states and countries following different protocols. Those adopting policies to protect their most vulnerable citizens, using early effective treatment of the illness and increasing natural herd immunity among younger/ healthier people had better outcomes.
Early on, doctors reported that those most likely to be hospitalized or die were frail elderly, overweight people, those with low vitamin D levels and/or several chronic diseases. Our public health announcements did not mandate vitamin D supplementation, diet and lifestyle changes to reduce hypertension, reverse diabetes and heart disease. They didn’t even recommend these public health instructions. Instead they left citizens feeling helpless and hopeless, where the worst outcomes emerge.
These Plague Doctors said they were only following state guidelines, but our sheriff has repeatedly violated state laws, while refusing to enforce these “public health guidelines” without consequence. Their Infectious Disease Diktats have done lasting damage to our academic, social and economic institutions. An entire generation, from entering to graduating students have been harmed academically, with lifetime drags on earning potential, health span and longevity.
Our social connections have been irreparably severed by suspicion and paranoia between generations and among them. Small businesses, an economic engine of opportunity for employees and owners, have been crushed.
When this infectious disease emergency was declared in spring of 2020, I wrote you as county supervisors to demand evidence from your politically appointed public health director to support their “guidelines” of masking, with schools, small business, parks and public space closures. You did not, but there were none.
Before Covid, the CDC, WHO, the director of NIAID and leading medical journals were unanimous that masks did not control spread of respiratory virus, “forced isolation and quarantines” were ineffective, lockdowns were always too late, and closures of public schools, businesses and open spaces were overkill with more harms than benefits. Only the rhetoric changed, not the science.
Authorizing an independent retroactive investigation into harms and benefits of their policies would provide proof that this name change is needed to challenge their acceptance as a trusted source for Public Health. We are promised that the era of pandemics is upon us and the new normal will see them exercising autocratic authority you allowed them, unless you rein in their unelected power to do far more damage.
Tactics and Strategy
Clif High sends out such letters but puts more teeth in.. threatens them with legal penalties for malfeasance, etc…treason, etc. pointing out how it went down in Nuremberg. The good stuff. Incoming, just give it a little longer for people to catch on to what has been done to them as deaths mount.
